Tottenham Hotspurs VS Manchester United: Match Preview

September 11, 2009

White Hart Lane

Satuday 12th

Kick Off: 17:30 BST

It will interesting to see how united do against good teams after that poor performance against Arsenal. Some argued the formation and tactics were wrong. Playing Rooney up on his own was a wrong decision, though United did come up with a win, thanks to Diaby!  Spurs one of the ‘pretenders’ of the top 4 along with Manchester Shitty. And I think they might join the top 4 this season, and not be a ‘pretender’. If you’re thinking what ‘pretender’ is, its the teams that are favourite to break in to the top 4 or win the league- read about the contenders and the pretender here.

The good news ahead of this match is that Rio Ferdinand might be fit. Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed that he is training but he is not sure if he can start.

He said “Rio has been in training this week and has a got a chance for Saturday, I’m not sure how big a chance but he has got a chance”

Ireland manager has also said O’shea could miss up to 2 months due to his calf injury (stupid internationals), So cathcart who impressed during Pre-season could start, since Rafael is injured, but his brother can start if Fergie is willing to play him in the Right Back position.I am not sure About Evans so I can’t tell you much about that.

Tottenham have been in amazing form winning all of there 4 games, one of the most stand out teams in the 1st month of the premier league. They are sitting in 2nd position, behind chelsea at goal difference. That does tell you a lot!

I don’t think both Rooney and Berbatov will start, as Owen has not played in a long time, Rooney & berba might be tired from the International matches. Who will start with Owen? Why don’t you tell us what you think!

United last faced spurs at OT, one of the most historic comeback at Old Trafford- Coming from 2-0 down at half time and winning 5-2! Kinda similar to that 3-0 down at half time then coming back and winning 3-5! You do wonder what Fergie said.

Spurs’ midfeild will be hard to beat, Palacious and Huddlestone, Palacious has been amazing this season.United were linked with him, would have been amazing if we did sign him! With Lennon and Bently on the wings. Good news for us that Luca Modrich is injured, One of the best Midfeilders so far this season

Rooney has been in hotform scoring 5 from 5 for club, and 9 from 7 for International! So he will be a man to watch, But I was looking forward to see Berbatov start and teach a few things to the spurs fans!

Spurs man to look out for has to Defoe, scored 4 on 4- already bagged a  hattrick. has been in amazing form and he did not start in the International so he will be fresh for them.

Micheal Carrick was also left out of the England squad, so he’ll be fresh. I dont expect Fletcher to start, He will be distracted that his team did not qualify for the WC 2010 S. Africa, and also tired. Scholes I think will pair up with Carrick, or maybe Anderson. Valencia also scored in his international match, He was absolutley amazing!Park on the the other wing, since Nani played international. I dont think Korea did.

This will be a nervy match but don’t this might effect the title! Its far from may. This week is very important for Manchester United- Playing in the Champions league, going to turkey then coming back and facing City.

i hope we do well.i am worried about Lennon.he destroyed evra the last time we played spurs.as you are rightly suggesting for that reason we may need park with Evra and not nani.the back line looks solid with rio back in it.i too feel with us having to play 3 games in 8 days now SAF may rest rooney because of the long trip to Turkey.Fletch too maybe rested.Ando will be itching to play and prove himself.my prediction is a comfortable win 2-0.Spurs good start has to come to an end at some stage.

Glad to know u r back in business 😉
Btw I see u omitted Rooney from the starting 11 as well as Nani (dnt rate him much) but I think both will be starting to have more impact with Rooney upfront and Nani with his pace to try pin back Lennon. Now that’s one player from Spurs who is really rising in status, and if I were Fergie I would have tried to get him to United next summer, he’s far better than Valencia.
Prediction is may be a draw since we’ll be away, but I pray United manage to scrap out a win, even 1-0 will do

I think this will be a tight game. Spurs have looked good all season and if United do omit Rooney then we could struggle.

I don’t think Sir Alex will rest Fletch. I agree with Crerand that he is the best midfielder at United. He might just opt for Scholsey instead but I’d bet on Carrick to start. I’m going for a hopeful 2-1. Spurs look tough and there is no way that the game will be easy.
    Scorers
    United :Wazza, Valencia
Spurs: Foster (own goal) LOL. JK
