Match Preview: Stoke City vs Manchester United

September 25, 2009

Brittania Stadium

Saturday 26th September

Kick Off 15:00 BST

STOKE CITY VS MANCHESTER UNITED

Manchester United take on Stoke City this Saturday, and I think we all know going to the Brittania Stadium and picking up all 3 points is no walk through the park. The last time these to teams met in Stoke’s ground it was a 1-0 victory through a late late Tevez goal through Berba’s amazing pass. And In Old Trafford Stoke were hammered in the early stages of last season 5-0! Where Welbeck came off the bench to score a 25 yard thriller!

United are in good form, winning all of their recent games. Picking up 6 points from their Rivals, Arsenal and city. United have played well this season the only 2 disappointing games were when they lost to Burnley, And when United won against Arsenal but not with a convincing enough win.

Against City United would have and should have won it comfortably, But two defensive & goal keeping mistakes made the game go further in the 6th min of injury time. I have to admit, If it weren’t for those mistakes it wouldn’t have been as amazing as it was.

Stoke City have drew their last game away to Bolton, and Chelsea picked up a win in the dyeing seconds at the brittania. Before that Stoke got hammered 4-0 by Liverpool at Antfield, Following that a 0-0 draw against Birmingham and then a 1-0 win over Sunderland.

After 6 games Stoke are sitting 10th in the table with 8 points, 1 point behind Burnley. They have won 2, drew 2 and lost 2. Their wins were against Burnley & Sunderland.

Stoke’s main threat continue to be from Throw ins via Rory Delap.

Going Ahead of this match, Foster is expected to start amazingly, after playing horrible against City. Owen in good form with 1 goal and 1 assist in his last to games, but I don’t think he’l start after playing a full game in midweek against Wolverhapton in the carling cup. The defensive line will be as it is with O’shea and Evra as full backs and Vidic and Rio Ferdiand as Centre Backs.

Scholes and now 1st choice midfeild Fletcher might get the nod going into this game. Nani who played midweek might get another start, as he sat out against Citeh. Valencia might also get in as he didn’t play midweek or start in the manchester derby.Rooney & Berba upfront as they try to develope a good partnership

United form:W L W W W

Stoke Form:W L D W L D

Our projected line Up:

Foster

O’shea     Ferdinand    Vidic     Evra

Fletcher    Scholes

Valencia                                Nani

Rooney     Berbatov

Perdiction:  Stoke 1 – 2 United (Berbatov, Rooney)
